Tracking Tracks
My hope, with these posts, is to provide anyone reading with a balance of what daily life looks like in CGA as well as some of my thoughts. This week, I want to talk to you a little bit about the Leadership Track! For those who need a refresher, your track for CGA is the equivalent to your major in college. The options are Storyteller, Missions, Worship, Sons and Daughters (in Guatemala), and Leadership.
Our fearless leaders are Travis and Ashley, both of whom are Squad Mentors for the World Race. They are fantastic individuals and have helped push each member of the track to learn more about themselves and what it means to be a servant leader.
There are exactly 10 apprentices involved with leadership, 4 of which (including myself) were from F Squad. It’s like a mini-reunion every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday morning from 9-12. Adventures in Missions has two buildings on campus. The upper lodge houses several offices as well as AIM programs such as CGA, Kingdom Journeys, Beauty for Ashes, Marketing, and more. The lower building houses everything associated with the World Race program, Passport, Donor Relations, IT, and more. We meet in a conference room, nestled in the second floor where the heartbeat of so much of activity for trips happens and that is where this picture was taken. Thus far, we have talked about a wide variety of topics that include time management, the character of Christ, identity formation, soul care, character, boundaries, rest, and servant leadership. Travis and Ashley typically lead more of the book discussions and other staff members have come to speak to us on the various topics. We listened to a podcast entitled “The Father Heart of God,” which was absolutely incredible. Additionally, we have reading assignments and have already completed discussions on Humility and Ruthless Trust. That’s right, we have homework pretty much every night. They don’t call this a discipleship school for nothing, I can tell you that much!
I have loved every single minute of Leadership Track. The topics are both convicting and encourage growth in a way I haven’t experienced before. We’ve learned a lot about ourselves through countless personality tests. Many, not all, are interested in going back out into the field to lead a trip whether it be World Race, Passport, Ambassador, you name it. Even this week, two of our members were going through the squad leader interview process to hopefully lead this coming January.
It is truly a privilege to rub shoulders with every member of the track, as well as be taught by so many incredible people within the organization. I’ve loved hearing their thoughts and being able to ask questions about the material. More updates to come!
